2006 Graduating Seniors

Thanks for all the memories, we'll miss you!!!

Kaitlin Crean began swimming at the JCC in Bridgeport and joined the Water Rats at age 12. Kaitlin will be graduating from Fairfield Warde HS where she was captain of her swim team. She has also earned CT Swimming Top 16 honors. She is a member of the Youth American Cancer Society and a Relay for Life Committee member. Kaitlin will attend York College of Pennsylvania where she plans to study Criminal Justice. Kaitlin was awarded the Andrew Sawyer Memorial Award for 2006.

Mike Dunn began swimming at the age of seven with the Trumbull Pisces. He joined the Water Rats at the age of nine. Mike will graduate from Trumbull HS where he holds 3 school records and was a member of the Math team, French Club, Student Council and Key Club. He was the 2006 State Open Champion in the 200IM and is a YMCA National finalist. Mike has received many honors including National Honor Society, CT Swimming Scholar Athlete, Brown Book Award, and the CABE Leadership Award. Mike will attend Harvard University where he plans to study Linguistics. Mike was awarded the Andrew Sawyer Memorial Award for 2006.

Karrah Hurd began swimming at the age of seven with the Monroe Gators and joined the Water Rats at age sixteen. Karrah will graduate from Lauralton Hall where she was selected for the SWC Conference Team and the CHSCA State Team. Karrah also has earned the CT Swimming Scholar Athlete Award. She will attend Franklin & Marshall where she plans to study Pre-Dental or Pre-Med.

Keenan Koss began swimming with the Water Rats at the age of eight. Keenan will graduate from Fairfield Ludlow HS where she was team captain and earned All FCIAC & All State. She is also a YMCA All American and a USA Swimming Academic All American. Keenan is a two-time Point-to-Point Open Water Swim winner, a youth member to the YMCA Board of Directors and has participated in the Swim Across the Sound and the Bridgeport YMCA Outreach program. Keenan will attend Michigan University where she plans take up Communication Studies. Keenan earned the Bob Knoebel Scholarship for 2006.

Aurora Lee began swimming at the age of eight with the Fairfield YMCA. She joined the Water Rats at age fifteen. Aurora will graduate from Fairfield Ludlow HS where she was a three-time All-FCIAC and All-State selection. She was also a three-time State Open Champion and FCIAC and Class S record holder. She is also a YMCA All-American and LC YMCA National Champion. Aurora is an AP Scholar with Honor, and served as Math Honor Treasurer. She is a member of Amnesty International, Math Honor Society Mu Alpha Theta and French Honor Society. Aurora will attend Princeton University. She is currently debating between studies in different facets in the political science realm including economics and foreign relations.

Anna Smith began swimming with the Water Rats at age eight. Anna will graduate from Staples HS where she was an FCIAC and State Class S Champion. She has also earned the SHS Scholar Athlete Award and is a three-time CT Swimming Scholar Athlete. Anna is a four-time YMCA National Qualifier and a participant at the Swim Across the Sound. Anna will attend Boston College where she plans on studying Pre-Med.

Jillian Smoragiewicz started swimming with the Water Rats at the age of seven. Jillian will graduate from Norwalk HS where she earned High Honors, was a member of the National Honors Society and CAPT Master. She has also volunteered at blood drives, NHS spring musicals and is a member of the Norwalk Youth Symphony. Jillian will attend Fordham University where she will study English with a minor in music.

Paul Stubbs began swimming at age six with the Wheaton Tidal Waves in Illinois. He began with the Water Rats at the age of eight. Paul will graduate from Fairfield Ludlow HS where he was a 3-year swim team captain, and has numerous awards including Student of the Month, Headmaster's List, National Honor Society , Math and Music Honor Society, and the CT COLT Award for Spanish. Paul is a Charter President of the Astronomy Club, plays viola and is a Chamber and Choir member. Paul will attend The College of William & Mary where he plans to study Business Administration with a minor in Physics or Government.
