Claire
Nugent: Claire was accepted early to Georgetown University
in Washington, D.C. and was recruited to swim for the Hoyas. Claire has been a member of the Water Rat swim
team since she started swimming with Bob Knoebel as an 8/U swimmer. Claire is a student at the Hopkins School in
New Haven where she was captain of the girls swim team, a perennial
powerhouse in the New England Prep School Swimming Association. Claire
is proud to have been the butterfly leg of the Hopkins 200 medley
relay team achieving an All-American consideration time this year.
Claire received the 2004 Bud Erich Award from Hopkins for outstanding
commitment to and leadership in the sport of swimming.
Claire is also a National Merit Commended Scholar, an Academic
All-American and a Connecticut Swimming Scholar-Athlete.
Claire was the recipient of the 2003 Wellesley College Book
Award given for outstanding academics, strength of character and contribution
to her school community. Claire is a three year member of the Water
Rat Y National team qualifying in the 100 and 200 butterfly.
Claire also participates in the Concert Choir at Hopkins, is
active in the school's Key Club doing community service in the New
Haven area, is a writer and photo editor for the school newspaper
and a yearbook editor, as well. Claire is the daughter of Michael and Patty
Nugent of Westport. |

Allison
Lenci: Allie was accepted early decision to Colgate
University in Hamilton, New York where she plans to attend and swim
for the Colgate Raiders in the Patriot League.
Allie has been a member of the Water Rat swim team for the
past eleven years, starting with Bob Knoebel as an 8/U swimmer. She attends Fairfield High School and was captain of the girls swim
team this past year. Allie
is very proud to have won the 50 freestyle in the LL Championships
this year and proud to have placed 3rd in the 50 freestyle
at the High School State Opens. Allie
is a three year member of the Water Rat Y National Team qualifying
for the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
Allie is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish
Honor Society at Fairfield High School and a youth member of the American
Cancer Society. She also participates in the mission team at
St. Timothy's Church. Allie
is a Connecticut Swimming Scholar-Athlete as well as a News Channel
12 Scholar-Athlete. Allie also loves to play soccer and tennis. Allie is the daughter of Tom and Susan Lenci
of Fairfield. |

Simon
Rosen: Simon has been accepted early decision to Colgate
University in Hamilton, New York and plans to swim with the Colgate
Raiders swim team. Simon began
swimming in second grade as an 8/U for the Weston Water Wizards. When he was twelve, he joined the Water Rats
and swam for one year. He
totally gave up swimming in eighth grade but returned to swimming
as a high school sport for Weston High School.
He has swum for Weston High School for the past four years
and is now team captain. He rejoined the WRAT team this year to increase
his level of training and to improve his competitive skills. His greatest
personal swimming accomplishments include achieving All-State in the
100 breaststroke in 2002, 2003 and 2004, breaking the Weston High
School breaststroke record previously set in 1985, swimming a 59.73
in the 100 breaststroke at 2004 State Opens and finally breaking a
minute in this event, and achieving All-State and All American Consideration
for the 200 medley relay in 2002 where he swam the breaststroke and
was joined by former Water Rat Jason Oberman who swam the backstroke
leg of the relay. Simon has qualified as a member of the 2004 Water Rat Y National
Team. Simon has a 3.7 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society
at Weston High School. He
also plays varsity baseball, a sport which he has enjoyed since kindergarten. Simon is the son of Nathan and Tina Rosen of
Weston. |

Stephanie
Allgood: Stephanie has been accepted to the University
of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, and plans to participate on
UConn's rowing team. Although
a newcomer to the Water Rats, Stephanie has been swimming since the
age of seven. She started
with Norwalk Zeus, took a break after her freshmen year in high school
to row, then went back and swam for three seasons with the Wilton
Wahoos, went back to rowing again and then came to finish up the short
course season with the WRATS. Stephanie is a student at Norwalk High School
and swam all four years on a combined team of students from NHS and
Brien McMahon HS. Stephanie's
greatest swimming memory occurred senior year in high school during
class "LL" championships. She
started off with a best time in the 100 fly, proceeded to win the
100 back and finished off with the 400 free relay placing second only
to powerhouse Greenwich. Stephanie has had the opportunity to swim summer
Y Nats with the Wilton Wahoos and spring Y Nats in Ft. Lauderdale
with the WRATS in both the 100 back and 100 fly.
When she is not swimming, Stephanie keeps busy rowing with
the New Canaan High School crew team at the Maritime Rowing Club in
Norwalk. She usually competes in a quad which made nationals
last year. Stephanie is the
daughter of Linda and Jay Allgood of Norwalk, CT. |

Alexandra
Jenal: Alexandra was accepted early decision to Franklin
Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Alexandra, who has consistently been on first or second honors each
quarter at Staples High School, has been accepted to Franklin and
Marshall as a Presidential Scholar, which offers an academic scholarship
to her. She plans to swim for the Diplomats, who were
the 2004 Centennial Conference Champions. Alex started swimming with the Water Rats at the age of 11 with
Head Coach Bill Krumm. She
has also swum all four years for the Staples High School girls' swim
team. She has swum in FCIACS and made states and
state finals each year. She
is proud that her high school 200 free relay team consisting of WRAT
teammates Molly Fenn, Anna Smith and Staples swimmer Megan Lally made
it to state opens and placed 3rd at Class L finals. Alex
is a familiar face at Longshore each summer, where she is employed
as a lifeguard and youth swim instructor. Alexandra is the daughter of Reto and Cathy
Jenal of Westport. |

Donnie
Stuart: Donnie plans to attend Middlebury College in
Middlebury, Vermont and will most likely swim for the Panthers. Donnie has been swimming since the age of seven
when he joined the Water Rats and started as an 8/U with Bob Knoebel.
Donnie is an outstanding student at Greens Farms Academy in
Westport, CT. He is a National Merit Commended Scholar and a member of the Cum
Laude Society, a National Honor Society.
Donnie considers his greatest swimming accomplishment to be
attaining the Men's Distance High Point Winner at the 2003 CT Short
Course State Championships. Donnie did not have the opportunity to
swim with a high school team as GFA does not have a swim team. He
decided to get his team experience by running Varsity Cross country
all fours years at GFA and he was captain of the team his senior year.
Donnie also skis for fun! Donnie
served as co-chair of the Community Service Board and was publisher
of the Yearbook at GFA. He was also a two-year Youth Advisory Board
member of the Westport Weston Family Y Board of Directors and a junior
Deacon at his Church. Donnie was honored by the team with the Bob
Knoebel Scholarship Award at the 2004
WRAT Recognition Night. Donnie is the son of Donald and Sue Stuart
of Fairfield. |

Molly
Fenn: Molly decided early on the college of her
choice and signed a National Letter of Intent with North Carolina
State University in Raleigh, North Carolina where she will be swimming
with the Wolfpacks on an athletic scholarship.
Molly had been swimming with the Water Rats since the age of
five following closely behind her sisters Meghan and Emily Clare.
She started out with Bob on the 8/U team in the Brophy Pool and as
an age grouper with Coach Bill Krumm excelled at YMCA New England
Championships, Age Group Championships and Connecticut Zones.
Molly swam for the Hopkins School in New Haven from 7-10th
grade and for Staples High School for 11th and 12th
grade. Molly was a 5 year Y National qualifier in
the 200IM, 400IM, 100Free, 100Fly, 100Back, 200Free and 200Fly. Molly considers her greatest swimming accomplishments
to include being a finalist at Y Nationals, and achieving All FCIAC,
All State, All American, and National Top 16 recognition. Molly
is the daughter of Anne and Patrick Fenn of Westport, CT. |

Lauren
Evanosky: Lauren inked her college commitment early by
signing a National Letter of Intent to swim at Miami University of
Ohio. Lauren will definitely be swimming with the Red Hawks as she
has been given an athletic scholarship for swimming. Lauren has been
swimming since she was 1 ½ years old and progressed through the Y's
swim lessons. Lauren recalls that she took all the classes
until a swim instructor asked Bob Knoebel to come watch her swim when
she was 7 years old. Bob immediately
suggested she try out for the team and the rest is history! Lauren is a student at Staples High School and swam all four years
on the girls swim team. Lauren's greatest swimming accomplishments
include winning the High School State Open for the past three years
in the 100 backstroke; making All American for the past two years
in the 100 back and last year in the 200IM.
Lauren is a four year member of the WRAT Y National Team qualifying
in the 100 Back, 200 Back, 200 IM and 400 IM.
Lauren loves to swim and attributes swimming with teaching
her many life skills like time management and the value of hard work.
This is evident by the fact that as an age group swimmer with Bill
Krumm, she excelled at New England YMCA Championships, Age Group Champion-ships
and as a member of the Connecticut All-Star Zone team. She has achieved
USA Swimming National Top 16 and CT Senior Champion recognition, and
was a USA Swimming Sectional finalist and YMCA National finalist. Lauren is the daughter of Pat Evanosky of Westport,
CT. |

Josh
Gruber: Josh has been accepted at Fordham University
in the Bronx, New York where he plans to swim for the Rams Men's Swim
Team. Josh started swimming
with Bob Knoebel on the 8/U Water Rat team following close behind
his brother Isaac and his sister Jessie and has been swimming with
the team continuously for 12 years.
He also swam all four years at Fairfield High School and was
captain his senior year. Josh was honored by the team with the Andrew
Sawyer Memorial Award at the 2004
WRAT Recognition Night. Josh is the son of Iris and Bob Gruber of Fairfield,
CT. |

Casey
Shufelt: Casey Shufelt has been accepted at and plans
to attend the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire. Casey does not plan to swim in college but
hopes to play soccer for the Wildcats at UNH.
Casey started swimming with the Fairfield YMCA when she was
six years old and switched over to the Water Rat Swim Team at the
age of 10. Casey is an honor student at Fairfield High
School and has been a member of the girls swim team at Fairfield High
School. Casey considers some of her greatest swimming
accomplishment to be making Zones as an age grouper, and qualifying
for Age Group and Senior Championships.
Her best swimming memories include the swim team sleepovers
with the gang :-). In addition
to swimming, Casey has been very involved with soccer and track during
high school. Casey has been an active member of the premier
soccer team, Yankee United, throughout high school. Casey has also been a youth member of the American
Cancer Society and has been involved in Prospect House and Teachers
Aid. Casey is listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students
and was the recipient of the American Honor Roll Student Award. Casey is the daughter of
Nancy and Kenny Shufelt of Fairfield , Connecticut. |
