Travel Basketball

Travel Basketball

The Westport Weston Family Y Travel basketball program is for highly skilled players in grades 5 through 8 who have long term interest in competitive basketball and a willingness to make a time commitment to their training and team schedule. The Travel teams compete in the Fairfield County Basketball League which is traditionally one of the toughest leagues in the state and contains some of the best basketball talent around. Teams practice two nights per week and games are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that all Travel participants must be Westport residents.

2013-2014 Travel Tryout Schedule

The Family Y is excited to offer children the opportunity to play competitive basketball with members of your grade level. Parents and players considering the Family Y Travel Teams must recognize that they are making a significant time commitment to the program. Travel Team practices begin in mid-October and will be held 2 times per week throughout the basketball season which ends in mid-March. Each team must have at least nine eligible players with a maximum of 12 on a team. If a player develops an absenteeism problem or does not abide by published team rules, she/he may be dismissed from the squad. All Travel Team games are played at a very competitive level.

Travel Tryout Registration Form

Be advised that Travel Teams are not obligated to "equal playing time." However, each coach is required to play each player in every game. To be eligible for a Westport Weston Family Y Travel Team, the player must be a Westport resident, have written consent of a parent or guardian and a medical form on file, and try out for the appropriate travel team. There will be no exceptions. An additional cost is required for Travel team uniforms.
