About the Dance Center

The Westport Weston Family Y Dance Center has been providing quality Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop and Creative Children's Classes for children, teens, and adults for over 20 years. The school offers a full spectrum of programs for students ages 2 to adult.

Michele Conklin, Director

Michele began her dance training with Jill Chase (National Past President of Dance Masters of America, Inc.) at the age of five. She studied tap, jazz, ballet and later pointe, and participated in dance competitions as a soloist and in groups into her college years. Michele is certified by test to teach tap, jazz, and ballet from Dance Masters of America, Inc., and is a member of the Dance Teachers Club of Connecticut (Dance Masters of America, Inc. Connecticut Chapter). Michele actively continues her studies with master teachers and has almost twenty years of teaching experience. Michele earned a B.A. in Psychology at SCSU, and a M.A. and C.A.S. in School Psychology at Fairfield University. She was a school psychologist for almost 11 years in the Connecticut Public School System, and was a dance instructor at New Haven Ballet and Rhythm Dance Academy in Cheshire.

This is her fifth year at the Westport Weston Family Y.

Lillian Fama…… Lillian earned a Dance Certificate from Naugatuck Valley Community College in 2007. Lillian is a native of Connecticut and began her training locally where she participated in numerous regional and national dance competitions. She continued her studies in NYC at Broadway Dance Center concentrating on Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap with Chris Hale, Jim Clark, Frank Hatchett, Fernando, Bette Morrow, Leslie Feliciano and Rodney Moore. Lillian has performed and choreographed in productions of 42nd Street, Damn Yankees, Annie and Annie Get Your Gun to name a few and was a member of the Terpsichorean Dance Ensemble at NVCC. Once again this summer, Lillian traveled with Miss Michele to SUNY at Buffalo to participate in Dance Masters of America, Inc. Teachers Training School, a four-level intensive dance teacher program. This is Lillian's fourth year teaching dance at the WWFY Dance Center! Congratulations and welcome back Miss Lillian!



Danette Meigel-Cahr…… Danette has been a professional dancer/choreographer for over twenty years. She is a graduate of The Cultural Arts High School where she earned a Certificate in Dance. Danette has appeared as a dancer, model, and VJ on MTV’s “Club MTV” and “The Grind,” and has performed with many different professional and amateur dance troops and theater groups throughout the Tri-State area. Besides teaching at the Westport Weston Family Y Dance Center, Danette continues to teach dance at Connecticut Ballet. Danette loves sharing her dance and creativity abilities with the students at the Westport Weston Family Y Dance Center! This is Danette's third year teaching dance at the WWFY Dance Center! Welcome back Miss Danette!



Brooke Paz.…Brooke, the daughter of a dance instructor, studied dance for approximately 15 years at Lee Lund's Studio of Dance in Milford. She was a competitive dancer as well and continued studying dance in college. Currently, Brooke is a dance instructor at Lee Lund's Studio of Dance in Milford and studies dance at Broadway Dance Center in NYC. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, Teacher Preparation and holds a Master's degree in School Health Education. The WWFY Dance Center is excited to have Brooke on board to share her knowledge and talents with our students. Welcome Miss Brooke!
