Danette Meigel-Cahr…… Danette has been a professional dancer/choreographer for over twenty years. She is a graduate of The Cultural Arts High School where she earned a Certificate in Dance. Danette has appeared as a dancer, model, and VJ on MTV’s “Club MTV” and “The Grind,” and has performed with many different professional and amateur dance troops and theater groups throughout the Tri-State area. Besides teaching at the Westport Weston Family Y Dance Center, Danette continues to teach dance at Connecticut Ballet. Danette loves sharing her dance and creativity abilities with the students at the Westport Weston Family Y Dance Center! This is Danette's fourth year teaching dance at the WWFY Dance Center! Welcome back Miss Danette!
Debra Wiseman Tobias...... Debra got her start making up shows in her parent’s living room. Starting out in community theatre soon lead Debra to working in professional theaters through her teen years. Debra attended Syracuse University and earned a degree in Musical Theatre. She studied with voice teacher Marni Nixon who was the singing voice of Audrey Hepburn in the movie My Fair Lady, Natalie Wood in West Side Story, and Anna in the King and I. Debra appeared on Broadway, National Tours (Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, and Sound of Music), off Broadway as well as TV (Law & Order, Step by Step, Clueless and starring opposite Angela Lansbury in Mrs. Santa Claus). Before moving to suburbia, Debra was a part of the Broadway bound production of Legally Blonde. This is Debra’s second year being a part of the WWFY Dance Center and we are thrilled to have her!.
Lexi LoRusso...... Lexi graduated from Springfield College in 2012 with a B.A. in Dance and a Health Studies minor. She is a resident of Connecticut and began her dance training at three years old. She trained in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, and Tap at Center Stage Dance Studio in Stamford, Connecticut. In addition, she participated in DanceFest workshops concentrating on Jazz, Ballet, Theatre Dance, and Hip Hop with Jermaine Brown, Noah Racey, Ben Hartley, and Josh Bergasse. She continued her dance training at the Dance Olympus Workshops in NYC focusing on Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and Lyrical with Debbie Dee, Sarah Jo Fazio, Jay T, and Sam Fiorello. Lexi has performed and choreographed for several dance concerts at Springfield College and also participated in two company performances with Elm City Dance Collective located in New Haven, Connecticut. This is Lexi's first year teaching dance at the WWFY Dance Center and she is very excited to begin!
Emily Musto...... Emily is a sophomore at Fairfield University, studying Accounting and Mathematics. She currently teaches Jazz and Hip Hop for Fairfield University's Dance Ensemble and is an Alumnus to New Jersey's Seacoast Dancer's competition team. Emily has over 16 years of training, experience and education in various dance forms from The Dancer's Workshop located in Wall, New Jersey; She has received numerous scholarships for Hip Hop and Jazz from many different dance conventions such as Nuvo, Jump, and Dance Caravan. Emily is very excited to join the WWFY Dance Center staff!
Catherine Boreen...... Catherine has been teaching dance for over thirty years. Certified by Dance Masters of America, C.D.T.A. and A.D.A.P.T., she founded an award-winning dance school in Toronto, training over 10,000 students, some of whom went on to Broadway, Canada's National Ballet, and "So You Think You Can Dance.” She has won many top choreography awards for tap, jazz, musical theater, and acro. This is Catherine’s first year with us and we are thrilled to have her!
