Eastern Zone Championships & Team Records
WRAT Swimmers Make a Big Splash at Zones
The Water Rats returned from The Eastern Zone Age Group Championships and everyone had great swims! The meet is comprised of the top swimmers representing NY, NJ, MD, VA, and all of New England.
Mia Bullock placed 2nd in the 200 Breast 2:28.61. This was a 4 second drop from her seed time and made the YMCA National Cut by over a second (although she can not attend until after she turns 12 in August). The time puts her 1st in the nation for 11-year-olds and is a new WRAT team record by over 10 seconds.
Ed Stolarski placed 6th in the 50 Back with a new Team Record 27.77. He also had strong finishes in the 100 Back(8), 100 Free(13), and the 50 Free(15).
Dan Williams, who broke the team record earlier in the season in the 400IM with a time of 4:51.88, also had a great meet at zones placing 16th in the 200 Fly & 200 Back, 200 Breast (18), 50 Breast (22), 50 Fly (23).
OTHER WRAT RECORDS BROKEN THIS SEASON:
Eileen Coyne was also a team record breaker this season in the 1650. She swam 20:26.52, breaking the old record of 20:28.92 set in 2004 by Helene Neuhaus.
