Come Learn About the New Y
The economic turmoil of the past four years has made the Y realize that we need to start small and firmly plant our roots in the ground, so later we can grow to our full potential. That is why the Family Y's volunteer Board of Directors and Board of Trustees voted earlier this month for a phased construction of the new Y facility at the Mahackeno Outdoor Center. The new facility will be built in three or four stages (depending on fundraising).
The first stage of the new facility will include either an eight-lane or an 11-lane 25-yard swimming pool (depending on the capital funds raised this year) and a warm-water family and therapy pool.
Bonnie Strittmatter, president of the Board of Directors of the Westport Weston Family Y (and past-president of the Parents' Club), will explain the revised project to swim team parents at the Water Rat Parents' Club meeting on February 29th. The meeting will be held in the Stone Board Room of the Y at 7:00 pm.
We urge all Water Rat parents to attend. Y staff need to know in advance the number of people who plan to attend our meeting, so they can assign us a different room if necessary. Please click to register on Eventbrite by reserving a (free) ticket.
