8/Under Meet Wrap-up & New Opt-Out Dates
First off awesome job at the swim meet this weekend. Special thanks to all the parents who volunteered and especially to Natasha Bowens and Jamie Dockray who worked tirelessly to get everything organized. Strokes looked fantastic, times were fast, and what pleased me the most was that for the entire meet we only had 3 swimmers DQ (disqualify) which is a remarkably low number especially for the first meet of the year!!
As a whole our swimmers and parents were very good about being on time for the meet which made things run incredibly smoothly. Anytime you look at the meet announcement please remember to arrive twenty minutes before the warm up session begins. I was also very impressed with our team spirit. I will be pushing hard all season long for our swimmers and parents to unite as a spirit machine and I thought Sunday was a big step in the right direction. Remember parents you are just as much a part of what we are building as the swimmers and coaches. We need your support and enthusiasm more then you know.
For every swim meet I will name a male and female ALL STAR from both the Red and Blue teams. All stars are chosen not only by their performance at the swim meets but from their behavior at practice the week before and how well they support their team mates. I am happy to congratulate Lily Kernaghan & Justin Lessing from the Blue Team and Mia Gonzalez & Duncan McGrade from the Red Team for their great work at practice and speedy swimming at the meet!!
Today I realized that we had a few incorrect sign-out dates listed on the website. The sign-out date for the 8/Under meet hosted by the Greenwich Marlins at the Greenwich YMCA on November 13 has been changed to OCTOBER 22nd. You can click here to opt-out. I know that this is a abrupt change and I am sorry for the late notice but please check your calendars and sign out if you are not able to compete.
We also had the wrong sign-out date listed for the Cheshire 8/Under meet being hosted on December 5th. The correct sign-out date for this meet is November 15th. Click here to sign out of this meet. This meet is at least and hour drive away so keep this in mind when planning other events on December 5th.
