8/Unders Take 1st at Y New Englands
The youngest Water Rats scored big points last weekend at the YMCA New England Championship at Harvard. The 8/U boys team won first place overall in their division, which had 37 teams competing. This comes on the heels of earlier wins at the Connecticut 8/U Championships and Connecticut YMCA State Championship. Justin Bacon was our 8/Under All Star, finishing with two fourth-place and one 10th-place finishes in individual events and two second-place finishes in relays. In addition, the boys medley relay teams won first and second place and the 8/U boys freestyle relay teams were second and third.
When you add in our Age Group swimmers, the Water Rats finished in 6th place overall out of 80 teams! (The boys finished fourth and the girls finished ninth.) This is a huge accomplishment because we only sent 7-10-year-old swimmers. (We never send our older Age Group, Tag Age Group or Senior Team to compete at Y New Englands.) This accomplishment is one we all should be proud of!
