Polliwog (ages 6-9) (Beginners)
For new students and the hesitant. Front and back floating, kicking, bobbing, gliding, face submerging,
introduction to crawl stroke, and personal safety skills are taught. Flotation devices are used when
necessary.
Fish (ages 6-12) (Intermediates) (Advanced Swimmers)
Prerequisite: Minnow. Child must already be able to swim 34 yards of crawl stroke with rotary breathing,
backstroke, standing front dive, survival float for 3 minutes, and tread water for 1 minute. Breaststroke
kick, elementary backstroke, treading kicks, surface diving, butterfly kick, rescue breathing and basic
first aid are taught.
Flying Fish (7 - 12 yrs)
Prerequisite: Fish. Child must already be able to swim 51 yards of front crawl with rotary breathing, 51
yards of back crawl, 51 yards of elementary backstroke and 51 yards of breaststroke kick, tread water,
survival float, and surface dive. Butterfly and breaststroke are taught. All strokes learned at previous
levels are practiced.
Sharks (8-12 yrs)
Prerequisite: Flying Fish. Child must be able to swim 34 yards of breaststroke, 34 yards of butterfly, a
136 yard individual medley and swim underwater for 20 feet. Sidestroke and lifesaving strokes are taught.
Racing dives, flip turns, first aid for cold disorders, heat exhaustion, and shock are also taught.
